Plymouth Paraeducator of the Year Announced

On April 4, 2018 the Plymouth Board of Education had the great fortune to celebrate our Paraeducator of the Year.  Leokadia (Yola) Seeds is a paraeducator at Terryville High School working mostly with our Apple program.  Yola has been a member of the Plymouth Public Schools family for 8 years and has affected the lives of students and staff in a very genuine way.  The staff at THS who nominated Yola for this recognition had so many positive things to say about how she treats others and how well she works with the students in her care.  Words like “trust”, “engaging”, “saint”, “valuable” and “team member” came up repeatedly in the recommendation forms that were received by the selection committee.

Yola Seeds is a tremendous example of the quality paraeducators who work with our students.  She comes to work with a great attitude and does everything in her power to help all of the children she interacts with on a daily basis.  We are proud to call her a member of our team!

Yola and all of our paraprofessionals wear many different hats during the course of the day and the year.
They help make our schools great by maintaining a supportive learning environment, planning and organizing learning experiences, engaging students in learning, assisting with instruction, and monitoring student progress and achievement.  In some cases, they deal with only one student and other times they are responsible for supporting many more.  No matter the situation, they are counted on to be flexible, adaptable and caring towards all students.
